From the City of Kirkland - The City of Kirkland is treating streets later this summer in the Kingsgate, North Juanita and North Rose Hill neighborhoods with a street-life extender called slurry seal. These roads share at least one basic characteristic: They are all in good conditions. That's because slurry seal's purpose is to protect the asphalt beneath it from the effects of weather and time. By doing this, Slurry Seal can extend by five to 10 years the life of a residential street. And it can do this at a fraction of the cost of more traditional methods, such as overlay.
